Description

The laugh-out-loud YA romance by two award-winning and bestselling authors, Erin Entrada Kelly and Kwame Mbalia, that's perfect for fans of To All the Boys I've Loved Before or When Dimple Met Rishi
When Pacy Mercado and Cecil Holloway spot each other during the first week of freshman year, it's love at first sight. Well, more like love at first fleeting, injury-riddled glance, since the moment is ruined thanks to clumsiness and a criminal case of IBS.
Despite their total lack of game, Pacy show more and Cecil are drawn to each other. Seven seconds of eye contact turns into days of yearning and stress as they make the mistake of following misguided advice from their friends, dysfunctional families, and strangers on the internet.
But the universe conspires to bring Pacy and Cecil together when they both end up on the WADS committee to plan the freshman dance (that's Wakeville's Awesome Décor Society, if you must know).
As they spend more time together, they realize that the other person might be just what they need . . . that is, if they can figure out how to be themselves and embrace the mishaps, mistakes, and hilariously awkward interactions that make up their imperfectly perfect love story.

Surely no IRL romance could be as hilariously awkward and nerdy as Pacy and Cecil's! Neither believes love is in their cards...until their chance meet-awkward in the nurse's office where Pacy is nursing a split lip from clonking the water fountain, and Cecil's IBS flareup sends him to the only available private restroom at school. Fumbling their way to romance includes rethinking their stances on finding love and taking others' dubious advice for the lovelorn. Cringe-inducing yet hilarious, Pacy and Cecil show that love can find a way for all.
This novel was hilarious! I was laughing while mowing outside and hoping no one thought I was a crazy lady!

Pacy believes that she will refrain from being a drone and being controlled by silly standards that everyone else mindlessly follow. Like love. It's silly. One day she's in the nurse's office and in walks Cecil. They look and are immediately in like. Cecil lives in a motel that his parents are renovating using a hiphop theme. They both end up on the freshman dance committee and try to figure out relationships. They get crazy advice from others that so funny. Eventually, they'll end up together. It's fun. Read it!
This originally appeared at The Irresponsible Readeras part of a quick takes post to catch up. The point of these posts is to be pithy, not thorough (as I typically strive for).

It delivers on the premise precisely. It’s sort of a variation on Rowell’s Elenor & Park, but done in a way that probably won’t get anyone annoyed by the depictions of the various ethnicities depicted.

Two geeky kids (in their own ways) who see beyond the geekiness to the great person (not ignoring it, but embracing it and the person exhibiting it). They’re drawn to each other, enjoy each other, and you can’t help but hope for a Happily Ever After (or at least a Happily-‘Til-Graduation).

The narration was great. I really loved the way they brought show more the characters to life. show less
