The author discusses twelve different archetypes and how they affect our lives. The archetypes are: Innocent, Orphan, Warrior, Caregiver, Seeker, Destroyer, Lover, Creator, Ruler, Magician, Sage and Fool. Each archetype helps us to prepare for the hero's journey (preparation, the journey itself, return).

This is a really good book, but reading it occasionally makes my eyes glaze over. I found that taking it in small portions was the best way to go.
