Take survivor trauma for an entire family, multiply it by two for the mom of four kids, have them live in a town that turned two horrific slasher murders with multiple victims into an annual festival. Then add in a mysterious author who has written fictional accounts of both massacres under a pen name. This is the reality CJ deals with every day. They, plus their younger brother, were hiding in a closet when the second Wolf Man killed their dad. Then a manuscript supposedly a sequel to the other two books, arrives on her doorstep. While she initially balks at reading it, as soon as she begins, she's freaked out because it's supposedly a timeline for a third series of slasher killings by yet another Wolf Man, but how can that be when show more both brothers who committed the original killings were killed themselves?
Then people begin dying in places and situations that are eerily similar to what's in the manuscript.
The crimes and suspects are scary and it seems as though there's no way CJ and her family, plus a friend and a love interest can stop them, but read on and you'll be entertained and surprised by one twist at the end.
Props for the stream of thought CJ expresses both in her head and aloud about her gender identity. They add a lot to the story.

This started out okay, but it lost me about the time the romance started up. It just got very saccharine sweet which isn't my taste. I still would have rated it higher, but the final showdown and reveal was weak.
