2012 and London is set to host the Summer Olympics however international plots from both the Russians and the Chinese are set to disrupt and destroy the country's reputation. Charged with making the Games run smoothly are William Warwick and his team but this is their greatest challenge yet. Over sixteen days the team have to foil plots large and small.
I've loved the William Warwick series and this is a fitting end. Archer remains a consummate storyteller with the action happening thick and fast, humour and tragedy laced throughout. For me it is not a demanding, dark read, rather a light but enjoyable caper but still really good
I have been reading books by Jeffrey Archer for more years than I would like to admit. This is the eighth and final installment in his William Warwick series, which I’ve read three of previously. While it can be enjoyed as a standalone, reading the entire series provides a comprehensive perspective on the characters.

Set in 2012, the London Olympics are about to commence, as are the nightmares for Commander William Warwick, head of Scotland Yard’s elite team. International forces conspire to sabotage the games, thus damaging Britain’s reputation.

With a well crafted plot and well developed characters, this is an engrossing, fast-paced read. It is suspenseful and thrilling; just as one catastrophe is avoided, another emerges.

There show more are 22 incidents in the book. Archer claims that 13 of them really occurred unbeknownst to the public. However, the true nature of these incidents remains a mystery, leaving readers eager to know the truth.

Thanks to @NetGalley and @HarperCollins360 for the DRC.

The latest entry in the William Warwick series is about the London Olympics. Interspersed with real events that happened at the Olympics are stories of Archer's imagination. It was fun reliving the opening and closing ceremonies 20 years later!
William and his team must thwart various plots to disrupt the Olympics, facing threats from the Russian and Chinese governments. Additionally, William's old nemesis, Miles Faulkner is plotting against William in the hopes of embarrassing William, and at the same time, gaining access to some of the art world's greatest treasures.
Another solid entry from Archer.
What fun! In typical Archer fashion this book moved right along! Have we now reached the "end" of this particular series, given the ending?? Just amazing how Archer has continued for so long to produce such a quantity of wonderful stories and books...impressive and a gift for his readers.
Predictable ending, when you've read all the others this one is much the same, just another money spinner..
