Super disappointed with this one.

The Plot:
Donatella is looking for the perfect gift for Legend, who doesn't like the holidays. In her search, she stumbles into her own issues. It's a novella. I can't say much more without giving the whole story away.

My Thoughts:
To be completely honest, my opinion of this series has been going down for the past few books. Caraval was great, but the spin-offs left me disappointed. This novella followed the same pattern as the recent books. Nothing really happens and what does happen was frustrating.
For being such a short story, I think 50% was Donatella thinking about kissing Legend. It came across as a middle school crush. Isn't she supposed to be older? Some of the situations she got into later were way show more too mature for the way she was acting.
I ended up really disliking Tella throughout this story. Enough to the point that it would have been a DNF if it was a full-length novel.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this one. Luckily, it's just a novella so skipping it won't miss much plot in the overall series.

I really liked this cute little festive novella. Garber's signature flowery, sugary sweet writing absolutely fit the theme of the story. Nothing over the top here, but this would definitely be a perfect, quick read for the holiday season.
The story was cute and fun, but somehow it almost felt childish. I know the books are YA but this one felt aimed at an even younger age group than the others.
This was a fun and quick read. The illustrations in the book made it even better. I love Caraval and the characters so it’s exactly what I wanted and expected.
Loved the descriptions...was lost a little as I had not read the Caraval series--- accidentally throught if was part of the other Stephanie Garber I had listened to and was enchanted with that series-- I thought the main character was the first love of the Prince of Hearts Jack. BUT...
Whimsical

I loved being back with these characters! It was as whimsical as ever, with intrigue, mystery, and a little excitement!
