Amelia Bedelia's boss gets fed up with the mistakes she has made and fires her. Amelia searches for work all over town, is hired on the spot then fired the same day, everywhere she goes. She eventually remembers that she has forgotten to fill the cream puffs she was making the morning she was fired and is re-hired because her longtime employers miss her.

I give this story four stars because it celebrates uniqueness. Sure, Amelia may mess up here and there, but she is kind, warm, and eager to help anyone she meets. The illustrations pair perfectly with the text, as the characters' horrified looks greatly convey the absurdity of the situation. Even though Amelia Bedelia continues to mess up, she does do her very best, which is what we show more should encourage young ones to do. Kids can have fun reading this humorous story and discover what makes them unique and different from others. show less
In my opinion this is a good book. I liked the main character Amelia Bedelia because i found her entertain to see what silly mistake she would make next. She was always taking the jobs she was given very literal and made a lot of silly mistakes. For example, Mrs. Rogers asked Amelia to make her cereal with her coffee but Amelia though Mrs. Roger meant to put the coffee in the cereal. Mrs. Rogers was very upset and wound up firing Amelia. The illustration in this book were very well done. I liked how the author was able to show the reader how each character reacted to Amelia's actions through out the book. The language used in this book was very rhythmic and flowed very well.
Amelia Bedelia goes from job to job but get fired at every job because she misunderstands the boss. Amelia Bedelia takes everything as it sounds and does it to what she thinks is right. This is a very funny book and will entertain the children. It shows just because something may sound as one thing it may not be the meaning of it.
Amelia Bedelia always gives us a fun adventure. This time her boss fires her, but Amelia always does EXACTLY what she wants her to do! Amelia goes job hunting. She tries to be a hairdresser, seamstress, file clerk, and many other failed positions. Each boss is outraged at Amelia's work, but she does not understand because she does EXACTLY what they ask of her! She returns to the Rodger's house and they ask her back because they miss her. I love these books because they are fun and an easy read for early readers.
Poor Amelia cannot catch a break! This book is very entertaining. She loses her job because of a miscommunication, then goes to another jobs and loses that one too, and the next and the next. This book doesn't actually teach any lessons but its great for entertainment value.
Great book that can show young readers to listen and follow directions. It is also a easy reader that can help the young reader practice. Illustrated beautifully. Amelia loses her job because she does things EXACTLY as she is told and it doesn't go well. For example, she is asked to give Mrs. Rogers some cereal with her coffee so Amelia gives her cereal in her coffee! This continues throughout the book. She eventually gets her job back but still does things LITERALLY.
Amelia Bedelia is back and better than ever! She just can't seem to find a good job anywhere...she does just what the people tell her to, but then they all get mad for some reason or another. =)

Peggy Parish was born in Manning, South Carolina on July 14, 1927. She attended the University of South Carolina and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. While visiting her brother in Kentucky, Parish was persuaded to enter the teaching profession. After teaching creative dancing to young children, she moved to Oklahoma and taught third show more grade in the Panhandle, in addition to teaching dance and producing community shows. Parish's first book, My Golden Book of Manners, was published in 1961, followed by Let's Be Indians in 1962. A parent of one of the students, who was an editor of adult books, found out she was trying to break into the writing field and introduced her to an editor at Harper who helped improve her skills as a storyteller. This, of course, led to her biggest breakthrough, the creation of Amelia Bedelia in 1963. Parish eventually wrote 11 more Amelia Bedelia books as well as a number of mystery novels, and arts and crafts books. Among these other titles are Haunted House, Dinosaur Time, The Chimp That Went to School and Let's Celebrate: Holiday Decorations You Can Make. In addition to writing books, Parish did television pieces on preschool education and children's books, wrote book review columns and led a number of in-service training workshops for teachers. Parish died of an aneurysm on November 19, 1988. Her nephew, Herman Parish, continues to recreate new titles in the Amelia Bedelia series. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
