Description
Welcome to Bloodwing Academy.Expect magic. Expect competition. Expect blood.
I didn't sign up for this. A half-fae in a school of highblood vampires? That's a recipe for suffering.
I'm Medra Pendragon, last of the dragon riders—or so they tell me. Funny thing is, there are no dragons left. Not a single one. But somehow, that hasn't stopped the vampires from deciding I'm worth capturing. Now I'm stuck at Bloodwing Academy, where the highbloods run everything, and blightborn like me? We're show more just blood in their veins, pawns in their games.
But that's not even the worst part. Enter Blake Drakharrow: cold, arrogant, and way too gorgeous for his own good. He's been tormenting me since the moment we met, and now, thanks to some ancient ritual, we're betrothed. He acts like he owns me, but I'm not going down without a fight.
Bloodwing isn't just a school—it's a battlefield. Highbloods fight for power, and if you're weak, you're dead.
Between deadly competitions, lies that could get me executed, and a dragon-shaped secret looming over my head, all I have to do is survive. Easy, right? Except I'm starting to think the real danger isn't the academy—it's what I'm becoming in this twisted game of power.
And Blake? He might just be the one who pushes me over the edge.
They think they can control me. They think they can use me. But they have no idea what they've awakened. show less

I have literally devoured this book. Luckily it is a holiday today so I could stay up all night reading, yes I did literally fall asleep over my kindle last night. I don't know how I arrived so late to The Blood wing Academy Party, but I am so glad that I have found it now.
What can I say about this book that will get you to try it, beyond this is an author who is publishing Book Two soon and is always known for finishing her series, let's try these statements:
If you like world building that will transport you, but not overwhelm you with minutia detail, this book will enchant you.
If you always wanted Morgana Pendragon to get more page/screen time then her half brother Arthur, this will intrigue you.
If you always shipped Hermione and show more Draco, this will leave you squealing with delight
If you like a He Falls First and He Falls Hard trope, this will make you stay up too late reading because you just have to read more.
As if that is not enough. This is all capped off with a perfect slow burn romance, filled with dragons, vampires, arranged marriages, and a cliffhanger ending that left me trying to flip to the next page because I didn't want to leave the book.
Did that work? I know I will be back for book two and any others set in Boleyn as Dark Academia World! show less

OK. I’m officially hooked on this series and I need to read book two! Boleyn has done an excellent job with the world-building, bringing not only the setting but the diverse characters to life. If you secretly (or not so secretly) enjoy a certain HP fan fiction with Draco as the MMC, then you are going to love Blake and Medra’s story. I admit Blake wasn’t my favorite at first, (he is a bully, after all), but it didn’t take long to fall for him. Medra is smart, strong, and a take-no-sh!t attitude I adored. And the world-building, so well done. It’s clear a lot of work went into making this unique world, and the lore, history, and others that inhabit it. If you want a good slow-burn, bully romantasy, you absolutely need to grab show more this like yesterday! show less
Thank you to NetGalley, Briar Boleyn, and Starwater Press for a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
The Plot:
Medra Pendragon is a powerful half-fae thrown into a new world. She wakes up on a pile of corpses to find Blake Drakharrow standing over her. In this new world, vampires and dragons exist and Medra discovers that she is one of the last remaining dragon riders.
She is immediately enrolled in Bloodwing Academy after being betrothed to Blake where she must take classes and win competitions in order to prove her worth.
My Thoughts:
I did not realize how much I missed this type of read until now! I used to read vampire novels all the time and that dark academia background set everything up for success.
At first, I show more was a little nervous for the 500+ page count, but I don't think there were any wasted pages. I loved the pacing. The characters were well developed. We got enough info about the setting and history without being lectured. It was a win all around.
I also had a lot of fun with Medra and Blake's relationship. It wasn't drawn out too long. We got what we needed when we needed it. And everyone wasn't magically fixed through the relationship.
This book was a perfect balance of romance and action. If you were a fan of The Serpent and the Wings of Night or Cruel Illusions, I think you'll love this book. show less

This is a dark academia fantasy romance that hooked me from the start. Medra Pendragon, a half-fae trapped in a vampire-controlled academy, fights to survive in a deadly world of political intrigue, magical creatures, and forbidden love. Her strength and defiance stood out as she faced torment and a forced betrothal to the arrogant yet intriguing Blake Drakharrow. The enemies-to-lovers tension, combined with intricate world-building and unique vampire-dragon lore, made this a gripping read. The story is packed with twists, danger, and a fiery heroine who refuses to back down. With an explosive ending and unforgettable characters, this book is perfect for fans of slow-burn romance and high-stakes fantasy drama.
expect to be thrown into a book with more questions than answers and little to no warning or contexts. This book would've better in 3rd person and better explanations and world building. This was just a wattpad book with a mix of the authors favorite fantasy books and tropes
4.5 ⭐️ I was out at a restaurant trying to finish this shit. That’s how much I enjoyed it !!!!!!
It was ok. I think I expected more from the MFC. The book overall fell flat. I might revisit to read the next one but at this time I'm not super interested.
