Jacob Milgrom (1923-2010), an esfeemed rabbi in Conservative Judaism, was Professor Emeritus of Near Eastern Studies at University of California, Berkeley. He was the author of many books, most notably The JPS Torah Commentary: Numbers (1966) and the-three-volume Anchor Bible Commentary of Leviticus (1991-2001).
