The MacArthur Study Bible: NKJV

I have 12 study bibles and John Macarthur's is probably the most helpful. Not a fan of John's over emphasis on dispensationalism or his end times theories - but still I find him more helpful than some of the other excellent study Bibles. If I could only have ONE study Bible it would likely be this one.

This was the Study Bible I went through in 2012. I have always enjoyed many of MacArthur's books but we don't agree on some areas, such as the sacraments or the end times. It is amazing how many times he can bring those up, especially the end times. When I want to study those in more depth and get an idea of different opinions, I will come back to this. Meanwhile, it grew frustrating and I skimmed over the footnotes pretty quickly, especially in Revelation. I did enjoy much of the New King James translation.

Like everything John MacArthur writes, he puts 150% effort into the project. I basicly use the NIV, TNIV, and the ESV Bibles, but gain a lot of info from the use of the NASV,NRSV, KJV, and Nelson's NKJV study Bibles along with MacArthur's study Bible used with his Bible Handbook, has much great info when doing research. Its handy to have in the library.
