First, I am sad that a picture of the book cover was not available. I love the cover. The book is a child's point of view on a parent's love. It offers several situations in which a child might feel that a parent may not love them or may disappointed, but each time Alex's mother assures him that she "will always love him."

I have a son named Alex so reading this book to him was wonderful! It was a way to re-enforce the love that I have for him in a way that he can see and understand through the words and pictures of the story.

To use this story further in a classroom setting I would use art by having the students draw a picture of someone they "will always love." I would also invite a special guest, a parent or grandparent of a student, show more to read the story to the class. Another extension would be the discussion of different situations in which we might feel that are not loved but actually are. show less
Alex's mom says that she will always love him, no matter what, but what if Alex breaks her favorite honey bowl?
A book about a bear mother and bear child.
