I can't tell if we're fighting...or flirting? Being traded to the Seattle Vipers has left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, they're my team, the team I've loved and supported since I was a kid, but on the other hand, he's here. Him. Ant Decker. Infamous NHL bad boy. Right wing to my left. A man who's made it his sole purpose in life to be better than me. Well, the joke's on him because I'm faster and my stats are better than his. Not that I'm competing with him. Of course not. I show more wouldn't stoop to his level. He's the most infuriating person I've ever met. A dark, chaotic presence that distracts me. When we're not coming to blows on the ice, he tries to provoke me by calling me Princess. And Pretty Boy...and Babygirl. I hate it. Obviously, I do. It makes me so angry I can hardly see straight. So why does my body react as if I like it? show lessTags

Robbie McGuire is thrilled to be traded to his all time favourite team - the Seattle Vipers - even if his self proclaimed nemesis, Ant Decker, is his new teammate. Ant, on the other hand, is a lot angrier about the whole situation.
This was an enjoyable read. There was a bit of angst but it wasn't too over the top. For the most part, the writing was engaging and the characters were likable, if not absolutely ridiculous. Robbie was such a golden retriever and I rated it. Plus Robbie's family was hilarious. And Ant was all grump. Their relationship was ridiculous but it worked. I wouldn't exactly call it a strong plot - but it definitely was a fun read. The flirting and inner thoughts had me giggling as did the arguing about if they were show more on a date. The relationship didn't happen all at once and that's usually good enough for me. There was a bit of progression as they got to know one another and began to fall in love. Just enough to make it not quite instalove anyway. The kink in this one was mostly a miss, the nicknames were fine, the rest was very cringey and had me grimacing as I skimmed. But overall this was a good read.

I added this to my TBR months ago and then read some mixed things and held off, then a group I'm in started doing their "books of the year" and I saw this on just about all the lists and some people talking about it and decided I needed to read it. This book was a trip.
First, the elephant in the room feminization. This isn't really something in my own personal kinkset and I missed the tag for it and was surprised by it. I don't show more normally like it, but I think this book might be the exception to the rule. I've seen it used a lot heavier and didn't enjoy that. This felt like an enjoyable balance but just a heads up that it is there.
I liked the development of the relationship. Forced prox is always a fun time, especially when its a bit of hate/confusing feelings. I do fucking love me a Tsundere and damn if Ant the must Tsundere of Tsundere's. Shit they both had a bit of it.
Overall I had just a good time and coming off the heavy hurt/comfort book I'd read right before this it was perfect. I'm interested in reading the rest of the series, especially to see these two knuckleheads from outsiders perspectives. show less
“Talk to him, but be nice ’cause he’s the babiest babygirl in the whole wide world, so make sure he gets special babygirl treatment.”
