Mati, last of the ancient Tygrine line of cats, flees his homeland after his mother's death. In England, he falls in with the feral cats of the Cressida Market. He eventually earns their trust, while learning more about his own mysterious powers. When a rival tribe's assassin follows Mati, the Cressida cats join him in battle, but in the end he must use his powers to save the world's cats.

This premise, similar to Erin Hunter's Warriors series in many ways, makes for an interesting read for cat lovers. The characters are not as fully developed as they might be, and the plot does not rise to excellence. The author has created an interesting mythology based on ancient legend surrounding cats, but its injection into the story feels clumsy show more at times. Pick up this book if you love cats and are fascinated by the premise -- otherwise, pass it up for a more skillfully written book. show less

A fun book with strong appeal for fans of animal fantasy. Well-drawn characters and an interesting plot, with a unique link to ancient Egypt. The writing is occasionally awkward in its transitions between the cats' point of view and a more omniscient human point of view.

This is the story of a cat of power and his finding of power in the face of an assassin. If he succeeds it will be good, but if he fails, all the cats will die.

I really liked this story of a cat and how they regard humanity. It was a good read.
this was a nice light read, the tygrine cat is about a cat from one of the most powerful family of cats. He was abandoned when he was a kitten and has to learn to live amoung street cats and humans. this is a great book for cat lovers
