My father loves this story and uses it annually to teach some aspect of poetry, but I just enjoy its simple beauty and wonderful phrasing.
“ My father’s hands are big and strong, scooping up earth and lifting sacks of seeds. “ This is a book that shows a little girl and her father working in the garden. He father shows her the wonders of the garden. It is about the excitement of discovering things and the relationship between a parent and child.
The little girl watches her father garden. As she watches him garden she wonders what the other bugs and insects think. Her father helps take one off her shoulder and she watches how he uses his hands.
