Description

Once, Kerry and Eve Barnard did everything together, all the while longing for their absent mother. They were twin girls arm in arm, secrets entwined between two hearts. Until the summer of their seventeenth birthday, when their extraordinary bond was shattered. Thirteen years later, it will take all the courage they can summon to put the pieces back together at a time when it matters most.

This isn't my usual type of book but I picked it up because a relative wrote it. The characters are easy to connect with and make you feel. As a matter of fact, I practically sobbed through the whole book. I started it on an airplane and had to postpone reading it until I was alone, it was getting ridiculous. I'm not really into tear-jerkers, but if it can get that strong a reaction, in addition to being hard to put down, then it's obviously very well written.
Seeking to brighten winter skies with a summer romance, I tried this first novel and found characters who struggled with abandonment, jealousy, betrayal, self-definition, and death as well as love. Well written, hard to put down.
This is the story of identical twins and the man they both love. It is beautifully told in eloquent language with fully developed characters. The descriptions of Block Island, where the story takes place, are quite accurate. I enjoyed this book so much, one of the best I read this year. And the surprise near the end left me speechless!
A wonderful novel. So well written, a beautiful story about the bonds between sisters, with a really compelling plot and amazingly 3-dimensional characters. I have book darts all over the place because of the lines I wanted to re-read. (Warning, though--It'll make you cry.) Highly recommended.
Lee gave me this advanced reading copy. It was a light read and got me back into reading - my mind wouldn't hold much after our recent move to Florida.

It is the story of twins who live on Block Island and are in love with the same young man.
Two twins on who is in love and dating the man her sister later marries. The twin who moves away to another unamed city and gives dance lessons and searches for meaning in her life. She gets a call from her brother in law that her twin is dying of cancer and can she return home. Which she does and all the memories from the past come rushing back. Her niece isnt particularly happy to see her because her mother is sick and her aunt is alive and its just not fair. There is tension between the brother and sister and law and they end up eventually having sex. That was a dumb move with the sister you love dying in the next room. Good beach or summer read.
I really liked it - predictable in a few parts, but a great book overall.
