This is a good book that can be used for counting. Illustrated beautifully full of color. The caterpillar eats and eats and turns into a beautiful butterfly easy to read and understand.
This board book is small and durable enough for the youngest of readers. It is the perfect introduction to the book "A Very Hungry Caterpillar." The cool thing about this book is that it is a precursor to the book mentioned before. so the pictures shown and the words used will be recognizable in the picture book. The main idea of this book is to help teach specific words that are often found in Eric Carle books
summery: its about a caterpillar that eats everything and eventually cocoons and becomes a very beautiful butterfly.

personal experience: as a kid I used to own this book and loved it.

classroom extensions: 1. maybe bring a butterfly to class and have the kids look at it while you read the book to give them some visual to it besides for the pictures.
2. have them draw a picture of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly.
Tiny board book with the caterpillar's favorite words, all illustrated.
