True Devotion to Mary

This book had a profound inpact on my life when it came out. I read it in 1995. St. De Monfort uses common sense, logic and love to explain how TRUE devotion to Mary leads us to a fuller life in her son Christ.

Everyone who would consider themselves a devout Catholic, that follows the Magisterium of the Catholic Church (and understands Catholic teachings), should read this book and practice the True Devotion to Mary. You will be educated in a way not expected.

If you became interested in the Total Consecration to Jesus Through Mary by way of something you read on the internet, know that this book has a more detailed version of the Total Consecration. Using this book for your Total Consecration is going to take longer than the 31 days websites dictate the Consecration takes. I learned this "the hard way". I had intended my Consecration to end on the Marian Feast Day, the Assumption of Mary. I became *very* confused (and subsequently show more stopped) when it appeared I was a week behind schedule. As well, the Readings do not line up with the Readings you'll find online for the Consecration -- the Readings in the book are much longer.

The book was inspiring but monotonousness at times. It does express the perfect way to be devoted to our Blessed Mother.

This book led to the book "33 Days to Morning Glory", which I have read 3x.
Deep book. Controversial for sure. Makes some sense but still unsure.

In these writings Saint Louis De Montfort explains in detail what is required of us to have True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was through the most Blessed Virgin Mary that Jesus was brought into this world. And during his life, her humility was so great that she almost disappears in the scriptures and is truly only known to God. And being known unto God only filled her world.

This is a guidebook that leads us to Mary and from Mary to Jesus. Many of the Saints have been servants of Mary, and all have led souls to her and therefore Jesus. The author is very ardent and effective in these writings and does a wonderful job of most effectively make her loved and served.

If you are Catholic, you should read this book. The author show more made sure his labor of love would keep intact the integrity of Catholic doctrine. This is an excellent book to help in the understanding true devotion to Our Blessed Mother. The whole object of St. Louis de Montfort's book and this translation of his original work is to seek union with Jesus through Mary. This book is about the why and the how of being truly consecrated to Jesus through Mary, Mother of God and the necessity for doing so. It is a translation by Frederick William Faber from the original French version by St. Louis de Montfort (who died at the age of 43 in the year 1716). There are 14 short chapters over 130 pages, chapter 14 focusing on total consecration. In this chapter the total consecration is broken into 4 week-long units. Chapter 15 provides prayers and information on consecration to Jesus via Mary.
