Carl Weber, the New York Times bestselling author of Up to No Good, will keep you on edge with this tale of three lifelong friends. . .

James Robinson and his wife have had their rough patches. But seven years into their marriage, things are better than ever...until James's past comes back to haunt him with a baby in tow.

James's best friend, Brent Williams, has always had women throwing themselves at him, but it's taken Brent a while to find someone who wants him for the man he is on the inside. His plus-sized fiancée isn't his usual type, but they seem like a match made in heaven until a sexy third party comes along...

When Sonny Harrison's wife sends him packing, he's lonely until he reunites with his high school sweetheart. But as his feelings for her get a little too intense, Brent and James may be the only ones who can intervene. But will that mean losing their friend forever?

Wow! Not what I was expecting & not sure how to classify it. Not even sure if I liked it or how I feel about it. One things for sure, there were times I couldn't put it down.

Great book! One of the best Carl Weber books I have read. It is a story of 3 childhood friends, Brent, James, and Sonny. Brent, the born-again Christian, is engaged to a woman whom he describes as "everything he ever wanted in a woman" even though she is not a size 2. James has the perfect married-with-children life while Sonny is currently seeking employment desperate to provide for his wife and kids.

The book starts off painting the perfect lives of seemingly perfect people. However, it quickly starts to reveal some interesting facts and situations. James discovers he has fathered a child during a brief affair and he tries to hide this fact from his wife. What makes the storyline so interesting is the child's mother - she will definitely not be winning "Mother of the Year" any time soon. Meanwhile, James piles lies on top of lies in order to hide his outside child from his wife and the reader knows it is only a matter of time before the entire situation blows up in his face.

Brent life seems to be perfect - he is looking forward to his upcoming wedding and, by all outward appearances, they seem to be perfect for each other. However, things take a strange turn when the character Jackie is introduced and then the perfect Brent goes through with his wedding while engaging in an affair with Jackie. Totally unexpected behavior from the born-again Christian. I have to give Carl Weber credit for throwing in a curve ball during the development of the Brent character. Without spoiling the storyline, I will just say the reader will not see ending coming and will be totally shocked.

Sonny, an unemployed computer specialist seeking a job as a UPS driver, gathers sympathy from the reader. When Sonny is turned down for the driver position but offered a position in the UPS computer department, it seems everything is falling into place for him and his family. His wife and children are excited about Sonny's new job as well as their move from the west coast to the east coast. Just when it seems everything is going perfect, Carl Weber blindsides the reader with an unexpected turn. Instead of packing up to move to be with her husband, Sonny's wife packs up his things, mail them to him and tells him she and the kids have no intention of moving to the east coast. As if this is not bad enough, sinister things are later revealed about Sonny's character that will not be anticipated by the reader - even his childhood friends were shocked.

I absolutely loved this book! I don't like reading books that are very predictable - where I can see the ending coming a mile away. This book had all the excitement of a good mystery while being extremely entertaining. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat - I ended up reading the entire 254-page hardcover book in two days. I would highly recommend this book for readers who like unexpected surprises. ( )
