Brett and Rowdy: A Small Town MM Romance

This is my first book by this author, and I think I could have really liked it. The plot was good, and the MCs were pretty well-rounded and likeable. Unfortunately, there were a couple of drawbacks, as well. The repeated use of filler words “man” and “buddy” by multiple characters in various settings really took me out of the story, sometimes in sensitive scenes, so it deserves its own mention. The side characters did not seem to have permanence, as if when they weren’t present for a scene, they didn’t exist, which seemed wrong in a lot of ways. Finally, the spice was not what I’m used to in MM romance, and seemed there more to fill some arbitrary quota. I do appreciate the disability rep and always like the show of show more independence, but I’m putting this one on the low end of average for my reading. show less
