I think the best thing about this book was the use of the term "Twinkle Twat" - lol. That made me chuckle! I was really expecting something like Verity, but this fell very short of that. It had some of the same creepy vibes, but overall, I was like, I guess I'm reading a creepy romance. I didn't feel the suspense of it and overall wasn't very twisty. And I felt like the main character was kinda an idiot. A ton of "external" internal dialogue is said out loud in the book which can also drive me a little crazy. The whole premise is not great. The only positive is it's a quick read.

[contains spoilers] A writer goes to a secluded cabin to write. Also, her name has been dragged through the mud because she agreed to do a movie on one of her show more books and they destroyed it. It was a love triangle and they removed one part of the triangle, so readers were pissed. A text leaked out with the author saying she loved the changes. So people hated her. Now she's trying to write again and get out of her slump. And then the cops show up at her house - or one cop, I should say. And says there was a police chase suicide or something. Anywho, he works his way into her life. And they start sleeping together even though he's married. And it's some weird game, like he's trying to be the cop from the book she's writing. But he's taking it too far. Breaks in and ties her up because he thought she wanted to experience what the character in her book is experiencing so she can write it more realistic. But instantly, she's OK that he did that to her because she has such a pull toward him. Like girl...da faq??? And then we find out she's married with kids. I was like, ummm...did I miss something in the book? That popped out of nowhere...I wouldn't call that a twist, more like a da faq? And then he's watching her have sex with her husband after he showed up at the door earlier when she told him not to. And then he shows up at her daughter's birthday party two hours away at her house. Did she tell him where she lived?! I don't know how to explain it but it sounds creepier when I'm describing it than it actually does in the book. She's all like, it's fine. He's just taking the game too far. She's being stupid, so maybe I kinda want her to be killed? Then she finally figures out that there was no suicide police chase thing. And that no one knows this guy and he's not a detective. And he's actually a screenplay writer. And the owner of the cabin she's renting actually went along with this guy she didn't even know. Everyone was just a little too eccentric to make this story work. And then the ending is that her friend asked him to go give her some inspiration, but just like knock on her door. But he took it too far. And he shows up at her book signing. And then she gets an email from him and the booked reservation to "get inspiration for the next book" - literally the worst book.

I feel like this was autobiographical. About an author who is in a writing slump and is traumatized about a movie adaptation gone wrong. She says in the beginning this is not a book about her, but ummmm....does she think we're idiots? Clearly the premise is about her and asking her fans to be nicer to her.

3.75- I’ve been going back-and-forth on this one. I feel like my feelings on this book were like a roller coaster. Started out pretty strong and then it kind of lost me and then it got me back and then it just kept going back-and-forth like that.

It was good. I felt like it deserved close to a four star rating because I was strongly addicted to finding out how it ended, even though I didn’t necessarily love it. It definitely had a pull on me.
From the Author of "It Ends With Us" which was a brilliant book. This one falls short. Although sexy and a twisty page turner, it was just not realistic.
