In a world of oblivious, inept adults, Madeline is lucky she has Carl. These books are funny, and full of visual subtlety that young children will enjoy. They are in on the joke. Carl is a good friend and a good pet.
Carl's Masquerade is a beautifully illustrated, wordless book. It's a fun story about a dog, Carl, that is left to babysit a small child. The story can be different depending on how the reader wants to interpret it, but the story is very easy to follow and enjoy through just the pictures.
One of my favorite books ever. There are hardly any words in this book but the pictures tell the story so well! The colors are bright and what fun to have a dog take care of you! Very imaginative. K - 5.
Carl's a great babysitter. Though these books were published late 80s onwards (1992 in this case, I think?), the costumes evoke more of an early 20th century vibe if not earlier (I swear, Mother is always in skirts or dresses).

Baby Madeline is in a dropdown crib so you know it's pre-2004 lol.
I probably only like it because it reminds me of my childhood. Not very great content wise. Not very many lessons to be learned, but great illustrations.
Preschool- 2nd grade, a book series aout a rottweiler named Carl. This one Carl is suppose to take care of the baby while the parents go to a masquerade ball,Carl and the baby tail them and go to the party. They run into a guess dressed as a baby riding a do. Enjoying the food music and games, them manage to make it home baby is in bed and carl is standing guard, when the parent get home.
