Giambattista Vico was born in Naples, Italy on June 23, 1668. He attended Jesuit schools and was self-taught. He was the professor of rhetoric at the University of Naples. He was a philosopher of cultural history and law, who is considered a forerunner of cultural anthropology. His works include New Science, On the Study Methods of Our Time, On show more the Ancient Wisdom of the Italians Unearthed from the Origins of the Latin Language, and Universal Law.
