I got this book from LibraryThing as an Early Reviewer.

Military thrillers are normally not my cup of tea, but I had fun reading this take on “The Most Dangerous Game”.

“You see,” the American said as he opened the bolt on his rifle and inspected the chamber. “We’re hunting the most dangerous game.”
He smiled.
“You.”

The main character, Jeremy Lopez, is an active duty Army Ranger, as tough as they come and ready to take on any situation that presents a danger or an affront to him personally or to America. I believe the term is Hooah!. He's also informative. Very informative. His knowledge of military armaments is vast and deep. And he lets you know about them in great detail, which is why military thrillers are not show more normally my cup of tea. Fortunately, this is not a huge part of the book.

Of course there are evil villains. Instead of the run-of-the-mill terrorists and Russians (although there are a few of those), we have techbros. I laughed out loud at their introductions. They're all there. Zuck, Pichai, the late Jobs, Thiel, and, of course, what group of evil rich tech bros would be complete without Musk? I'm not up on rich life and health insurance bros, so I didn't recognize the others.

Murphy does a good job putting all of them through their paces with a few twists and turns to keep everything moving at a brisk pace. There are a few soliloquy-like paragraphs from one of the tech-bros that were a bit bizarre and seemed completely out of place. It slowed the action down to a crawl. I can only assumer that it may be part of one of the books to come, as this is the first book in a series.

Overall, it's a good choice for a summer read on the porch.

The Most Dangerous Man ebook was exactly as described, a thriller, easily read in a day or two. With nods to Rambo, Reacher, John Wick and a host of wounded warrior/mythic frontiersman archetypes, our main character, Army Ranger Lopez navigates a nightmare scenario - hunted by a secret cabal of the world’s richest and sickest for sport. Relying on his elite skills, training and self discipline, Lopez fights to survive a grueling marathon of kill or be killed.

My husband read the book as well, since thrillers this is his favorite genre. Although we share very diverse reading preferences, we both raced through this story. We agreed it is a good page turner and worth a read. While some of the characters and plot twists were a little over show more the top, I was invested in the outcome and pulling for Lopez to not only survive, but seek vengeance.

There were a few sections of military lingo data dumps that were distracting in their density, and at times the characters and plot development felt a bit rushed, but the story moved at a very fast pace. Overall, a good adventure read and a main character we would expect to see again in the future.

Drugged and kidnapped, an experienced Army Ranger wakes up to find himself locked in a large concrete shed with workout equipment. He’s well-fed for a few days and then drugged again, only to wake up this time in the African jungle. Eight wealthy hunters and their guide, himself an excellent tracker, inform him that he is their prey. Given a half-hour head start, the hunt begins.

This is a thriller whose principal character was built by an author with an Army Ranger background who is intimately familiar with the US Armed Forces hierarchy and attitudes. All were tediously covered at the beginning of the book. The guns used throughout were accurately identified, along with the ammunition attributed to each firearm. The combination of show more these facts created a captivating realism that kept my reading attention. I found the book hard to put down, and every evening found myself looking forward to the next reading session.

The book was well edited with no misspellings or grammatical errors.
