I enjoyed this book very much. I was in the mood to read a cozy mystery, and this certainly fit the bill. There are actually several murders in the book, but since all seem to be related, Ashley decides that solving one will solve all. I enjoyed the setting. I liked the main character, Ashley, but did not really care for her sister, Melanie. Melanie's character is all over the place emotionally, and I could never tell if she really liked Ashley or not.

The part in the book when we realize that Ashley's mom has dementia was unexpectedly sad for me. Caring for a parent with dementia and having to make decisions for them really rang true to me.

The thing that bothered me most about the book was even though the title included "ghost", I felt show more that the book barely touched on any supernatural presence, and really only at the very end. It seemed like a throw away move to me.

Overall, I had a fun time reading this book. It was a quick read, and entertaining.

I'm a sucker for books with North Carolina settings, and I had high hopes for this book, especially since it was dealing with historic preservation in a North Carolina coastal town. I thought some of the dialogue was pretty simplistic, though, almost childlike. Since I read this book while I had the flu, maybe that had something to do with my impression. Still, the setting bumps this book up to a 3. I'll probably try at least one more book in this series for the same reason.
This first book of the series presents historical house preservation – though I would have liked a little more information. It is a mystery, two skeletons are found in a wall that was being removed. It is a ghost story, the house has a resident ghost that plays the organ. It is a romance, the main character Ashley Wilkes meets and likes Detective Yost in charge of the case of the skeletons.

This first book of the series shows the potential for an enjoyable mystery/romance. I will have to read others in the series to see if the mystery and romance will evolve.
OK, this was well worth $0.99. Found myself questioning why on earth the main character put up with her sister. Good plot.
Entertaining, plenty of twists and turns, interesting characters, a solid start to what looks like an interesting series.
Although the characters are engaging and the mystery challenging, this wasn't one of my favorites.
