4th Man Surf Club: Jesus at Walmart Season #2

I won this book through the Early Reviewers program and that is probably the only reason I read through the whole thing…so I could leave an honest review. While the gospel presentation in the book seems alright, the writing, storyline and details felt really off to me. Some of the concepts that are in the book have potential but there was a lot that left me wondering what was happening and why he didn’t explain more. The deal with his wife and how he had that play out was super bizarre to me. The flashback retelling of life events were quite confusing and then at the end of the book somehow 2 years has passed and as the reader, you have no clue. Then the end of the book is a wonderful time of celebrating salvation and Reo sees a man show more on the beach and gets all excited but we never find out who it was or why he was there. Also, the main character Malachi has this crush on Nola during most of the book and it seemed inappropriate to me, since he was technically still married when this lust started and then it continues on even when she makes it clear that she isn’t interested in a romantic relationship seemingly for the sake of evangelism but also because Malachi keeps wondering/hoping if it could be more.I wouldn’t recommend the book. show less

This gift of a book was a blessing. Told with a Christian mindset, sharing the good news while dealing with everyday issues. I liked seeing that I am not the only one with negative feelings towards AI. A keeper.

Easy to read. The words just flow. Nice Christian book. Not the usual fare. I enjoyed it. Thanks to Library Thing for sending it to me for my honest review.
