The Prince's Magician is a gay romantasy that tells the story of Jeffrey, who is half angel and half human, the adopted son of Lucifer, the ruler of hell and all demons. Given his parentage, Jeffrey has unresolved issues about his identity and how he fits in both on Earth and in hell. The Prince's Magician also tells the story of Ulnryk, a beautiful, elfin-like devil who has both magical abilities and sensual depths, neither of which he fully comprehends. The two characters are brought together by a contest organized by Lucifer to find the magician who will succeed Merlin as Master of Spells.
The book is written in the first person with alternate chapters told from the perspective of Jeffrey and Ulnryk. The plot keeps the pace moving show more nicely, and the descriptions and characterizations kept me wanting to find out more. The steamier scenes that take place between Jeffrey and Ulnryk are hot and sweet. I enjoyed the book and was very glad I read it. I've read several gay romantasy books, and this one is definitely one of the better ones, if not the best, that I've read. I highly recommend it.

The book was an easy walk though and I really liked the romance in it. Especially the elements of tension and betray. I'd definitely recommend this to someone.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Interesting book about all the devils getting together to replace Merlin the Magician, due to his murder. Lucifer has to choose the best candidate for this job. There is also a love story within the court between Jeffery and Ulrynk, Jeffery being the King's ward, and Ulrynk a competitor who. Thank you LibraryThing for letting me review The Prince's Magician by N.B. Saltsman
