The cover and bigger print give this book (at least my copy) the feel of an innocent younger age group book and comes through feeling as if it was even written like a pre-teen would. The situation Katie gets herself into makes you want rescue her and slap the naivety out of her at the same time. Her grief seems to have unbalanced her slightly due to the closeness she had with her grandma. Her relationship with her mom is heartbreaking. Then the thought of high-schoolers wanting to involve themselves, and at least one of them with that much malicious intent, seems improbable. It has a good plot but I think it could have better if it were more realistic.
The story kept good pacing and enough interest for me to want continue reading, but show more it's not one that I want to recommend it to everyone. show less

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. The book had a great story line with an unexpected, delightful ending but was written as if by a preteen
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. It was okay. It moved at a steady clip, was interesting enough and didn't drag but it wasn't anything special either. Most of the characters were cardboard-ish villainy, distasteful and unpleasant. The plot outlandish and over the top. While the two main "good guys" were cliche-ish. The story tried to be sweet and touching but just fell kind of...flat. Meh.
