Hakumei & Mikochi: Tiny Little Life in the Woods, Volume 1

Little adventures are had by tiny people -- of the pixie or brownie variety -- living in a forest filled with supernatural creatures and talking animals. At first I thought these gentle little tales of fixing and cooking stuff were intended for children, but despite their childish chibi appearance, the main characters are adults who drink a lot of alcohol and cheat at gambling. The Wikipedia page says this series was originally published in a seinen manga, which are intended for young adult men, so now I'm guessing there's some sort of kink being serviced here?

Anyhow, it's sort of cute to look at, but the tales are rather dull with a focus of world-building. The title characters are of the odd couple variety, with one being an outgoing show more and reckless repair person and the other a more reserved and responsible cook and home crafter.

I have no urge to continue with this sedate series. show less
