I thought this story was really cute. Biscuit is a little dog with a big heart. He feels as if he can do anything, I think this story can teach children that size doesn't matter. This book would be great for a pre-k or kindergarten class.
The little puppy is cute as he ineptly mimics the big dog and gets to have a little victory for being so small.
The story is a silly bit of nothing, but it does remind me of when we got our new puppy a few years back:

I found this book to be adorable. This is a fun tale that shows that size holds little significance in what we can and can not do. Small in stature, biscuit is not fazed with his size. He feels as though he can do everything that his friend Sam can do. If Sam can jump over the fence, why can't biscuit. He has a big heart and is quite the adventurous type. I would definitely introduce this story to beginning readers because I think they would love the illustrates and develop a liking for both dogs in the story.

BISCUIT'S BIG FRIEND is a cute little book at the First Grade reading level (end of 1st Grade).
As Biscuit stories go, this one is alright. It's not as good as BISCUIT WINS A PRIZE but it is good practice. The story actually reminds me of LITTLE BLACK A PONY. Stories about being Big and Small and how small animals, and by inference children, can do things that large animals/people cannot do. In this case Biscuit is sort of behind the curve because he can't carry and fetch like Sam. In fact, he falls in Sam's waterdish. All this is reversed though to Biscuit's advantage when a ball goes astray.
Here's some sample text from one page:

Silly puppy!
Sam's dish is too big
for you!
Sweet book about friendship and show more using what you have to your advantage. The artwork is adorable as usual.
**Teachers should note that there is an Accelerated Reader test available. Also that this book is Common Core aligned. show less

Everyone wants to be the big dog, the cheese, the grown-up, but there be benefits to tinies too, yo.
J: "This book was a good book but it was a little hard with the big dog's woofs."

Biscuit is a little dog and his friend Sam is a big dog. Biscuit sees all the things that his friend Sam can do and he wishes he was big like him. But, when the ball went under the fence only Biscuit could go get it because he was small enough.
Biscuit's Big Friend is a story about Biscuit as a puppy and how he learns from his big dog friend, Sam. As Sam chases sticks, plays tug of war and fetches a ball Biscuit also learns these tricks.
