I like this book. I believe that the illustrations are very important in this book as they help to tell the story. For example, the image of the little ballerina peaking into the "biggest" girls class. I like that this book incorporates ballet vocabulary in French. I believe that it shows that the little ballerina is learning. I also like that this book is inclusive in saying "The mothers- and a few fathers-" when discussing helping the girls with costumes. I believe this type of language is important because maybe not all of the little ballerinas have mothers. The message of this story is that if you practice hard then your dreams will come true.
This fictional story has many things for aspiring ballerinas to learn! It tells the story about the Little Ballerina who is getting ready for her big recital. It takes you through her ballet class and teaches you all the ballet terms in French and what they mean. It also tells the beautiful story of the ballet "Sleeping Beauty". It teaches a wonderful lesson about practicing hard and how that can pay off!
