On the first day of school, a new kid shows up in Arthur’s classroom. The new kid, Norbert, is shy and is dressed differently than the other kids. Arthur’s classmates make fun of Norbert behind his back, but Arthur feels bad and tries to defend him. Norbert is really smart and plays soccer with all the kids at recess. After school, as Arthur invites Norbert over to his house, Norbert explains that his mom made him wear his old school uniform. Arthur and his friends learn never to judge someone by their outer appearance because on the inside they may be someone you really like.
