From the arrival of the first men in Greece to the fall of the Mycenaean palace-town in the thirteenth century B.C., this work captures the essential qualities of each period of pre-classical civilization: the slow development of the Neolithic culture, the rich and original Early Bronze Age, the fruitful yet tragic encounter between Minoans and Mycenaean Empire. Το έργο καλύπτει τα βασικά χαρακτηριστικά κάθε περιόδου του προ-κλασσικού πολιτισμού, από την εποχή που ο πρώτος άνθρωπος πάτησε στην Ελλάδα μέχρι την πτώση της Μυκηναϊκής πόλης-ανακτόρου, τον 13ο αιώνα π.Χ.: την αργή εξέλιξη του Νεολιθικού Πολιτισμού, την πλούσια και πρωτότυπη Πρώιμη Εποχή του Χαλκού, τον γόνιμο αν και δραματικό ανταγωνισμό μεταξύ Μινωιτών και Μυκηναϊκής Αυτοκρατορίας.
