For the most part this is classic Saddle Club - they want to ride horses, there are problems with Veronica, everything works out so they can all help each other, and even if they don't get what they wanted... neither does Veronica, so everything is ok.

BUT.

Carole tranquilising Danny is just unremittingly terrible. Firstly, I'm not convinced that an anxious horse safely in a stall warrants sedation at all. Secondly, they aren't just labelled "tranquiliser" - they have actual drug names. Thirdly, Carole has no idea what the dosage is and no way of treating possible side effects. This is such an awful idea I can't believe it's even in the book.

But still. This is a worthy end to a sometimes-ridiculous series that will always have a soft spot in my heart.

"It's always Pine Hollow. Our Pine Hollow. Whether we're stuck in it, riding around it, looking at it, it's just the same."

"Just like we are," said Lisa. "Best friends - the same as always."

"Best friends," echoed Stevie.

"Forever," Carole confirmed.
