Description

While visiting a track in New York, Christina Reese meets Cindy Blake, the well-known jockey and long-lost member of the Whitebrook family. Cindy has been plagued with shoulder problems throughout her racing career, and Christina is thrilled when her newly found relative aceepts an invitation to come to Whitebrook to rest and heal. But Cindy isn't the mentor Christina hoped she'd be. Bitter about racing, Cindy offers Christina little encouragement or inspiration. Christina's disappointment, show more however, is soon overshadowed when her beloved horse, Star, falls sick with a deadly virus. Joanna Campbell is a pseudonym used by Jo Ann Simon who was born and raised in Norwalk, Connecticut. Campbell wrote in the evenings after spending days working a full time job for a small corporate importing company. Her first book, Love Once In Passing, an adult time travel romance, was published by Avon Books in November 1981, after which show more Campbell was contracted to write several more time travel adult novels. She was still writing adult novels, but was persuaded to write several horse books for Bantam. Because of the success of the Bantam books, A Horse of Her Own, and The Wild Mustang, she was approached several years later to write a four book series about Thoroughbred racing, and thus began the Thoroughbred Series. She wrote the first 14 books in the series, as well as Shadowbrook Farm and Battlecry Forever!. In 1996, she chose to focus on writing adult novels and let other writers take over writing all future Thoroughbred books.
