The Girlfriend is one of Stine’s Fear Street novels, aimed at older readers than the Goosebumps series. The story follows Michael, a high school student whose decision to cheat on his girlfriend, Sharon, spirals out of control when his new fling, Honey, refuses to let go. What starts as a typical teen romance quickly shifts into obsession, lies, and danger. Stine balances teenage drama with suspense, keeping readers guessing about Honey’s motives and just how far she’ll go. The book feels darker and more intense than his middle-grade work, making it a good choice for teens who enjoy thrillers filled with jealousy, betrayal, and shocking twists.
I'm not really sure why I liked this book so much. As far as plots go, it was a fairly typical Stine book, a typical "crazy-girlfriend" plot, without many surprises. But for some reason I really really enjoyed it. It seemed like the writing was somehow different then most other Stine books I've read... the descriptions and details were better.
A creepy, thriller. Not quite bunny boiling Glenn but enough to put guys off dating for a while. Defo worth a read.
