New Zealand writer Gaelyn Gordon was born in Hawera, Taranaki in 1939. She taught English and drama at Hamilton Girl's School. Gordon has written books for children, young adults and adults. Her first novel was published in 1988, and she won the Choysa Bursary award for children's writers in 1989. She wrote the play, In the Name of the Butterfly, show more and worked in the theater as an actor and director. She died on May 17, 1997.
