Frank O'Rourke was born in Denver, Colorado on October 16, 1916. He attended Kemper Military School. Before becoming a full-time author, he was a semiprofessional baseball player, a lumberjack, and a construction worker. During his lifetime, he wrote more than 60 novels including westerns, mysteries, short stories, and sports fiction. His first show more novel, E Company, was published in 1945 and was based in part on his wartime experiences in WWII. He also wrote under the pseudonyms of Patrick O'Malley, Frank O'Malley, and Kevin Connor. His other novels include The Far Mountains, The Bright Morning, The Man Who Found His Way, Concannon, Gun Hand, The Big Fifty, The Bride Stealer, and Window in the Dark.
