?An estimate of 30-40% of New Zealand women at home are believed to suffer from symptoms of psychological distress. Mothers Matter Too is written for them, and for the thousands of other women for whom the reality of life as a mother or homemaker is very different from that which is expected ? and assumed.? This is about recognizing, accepting and meeting one's own needs as a person, without denying the reality of being a mother. It combines an analysis of what causes distress among homemakers with positive suggestions for social and individual change.
