Love him or hate him, you gotta admit Gene Simmons is a smart guy. The basis of this book is to encourage everyone to believe in and rely on themselves. He tries to dispel the idea that more money isn’t good. More money is always good. And he encourages his readers to consider his life as an example.

Here’s a guy who was moved to this country when he was nine by his mother who’d been in a Nazi concentration camp and survived. He couldn’t speak English, yet took to TV and comic books very quickly. He also understood the value of a penny. He’s taken his mother’s outlook on life—Any day above ground is a good day—and adopted it as his own. Throughout the book, he offers examples of how others said something couldn’t be show more done, was too expensive, etc. and he bucked conventional wisdom and came out on top. But he also is up front in that most of his efforts have failed. But you can’t allow those misteps to let you down. You’ll never get a hit if you don’t keep swinging.

Yes, Gene’s self-centered, arrogant, etc. But let’s face it, he’s got reason to be. He’s amassed a fortune playing bass in a rock band ("wearing more makup than your mommy" as he's fond of saying). You may not like his morals (or lack thereof, based on your perspective) but you have to respect his sense of freedom and liberty. He believes in full disclosure up front in any relationship, especially an emotional one. Two people should be together because they want to be, not because, by law, they have to, lest one person (usually the wife) gets 50%.

As a KISS fan, I of course enjoyed the KISS-related stories. But I think the content of this book will give anyone food for thought. Many people don’t think sales is for them, but what they don’t understand is that to get most anywhere, you must sell yourself. Let prospective employers/investors know how hard you’ll work, how dedicated you are, and so on. "Sex, Money, and KISS" may be that kick in the butt that gets you out there with self confidence to do your own thing!

Wow. I'd rather be penniless and love humanity than rich and think everyone was put on this earth to serve one of my needs. His poor kids.
Co-habitation agreements, other people's money, building and exploiting an image brand: I think is an unacknowledged pioneer in the manosphere as an early influencer.
Initially, I was intrigued by the author's writing style. Unfortunately, this turned around as quickly as my interest in his ideas on business and "making money". Not a book for those who disapprove of the overly confident cocky types.
It came with a lunch box. I like my lunch box.
