Dragonfire: Anne McCaffrey's Pern

I really love Anne McCaffrey's Pern books so I was interested when my sister passed this book on to me. It's a book based upon the Dragonriders of Pern but the story is multifaceted depending on dice rolls and either/or decisions. For my taste though this method didn't work very well. For one thing the instructions for playing the game were both wordy and obscure. Maybe they assume that anyone who reads this has played lots of adventure games but for a novice it was too difficult to follow. Secondly, even when I did play along at some point the story lost me.

Maybe this would appeal to real gamers but not to me.
