Great discussion book for why writing is important and a good thing (The character starts a diary and realizes it is really helpful for analyzing his thoughts, life, and views on his family). He learns through writing a lot more about himself.
Honestly, I think this was dated when it came out. Even when I was young I would've only given it three stars for a few lovable bits. Too bad.
