Love As Strong As Ginger

This book tells the story about the young girl's relationship with her grandmother. Her grandmother is a Chinese immigrant who works in the fish market cracking crab. Her grandmother tells her how she came to America and how it was such a wonderful place because whatever you dream you could be. The young girls wants to be just like her grandma, but her grandma wants more for her. She does get to go to work with her grandma and she watches how all the ladies, just like her grandmother, crack crab for a living and how they laugh and get along. The young girl gets her chance to crack crab but cannot, so the supervisor is kind enough to give them that crab to take home. It is a long day at work, and then her and her grandmother take the bus show more home and they both rest and at home they make a crab dish and the young girl realizes how hard her grandmother works and why she wants more her to dream more. show less
