Intelligent, self-confident heroine. Emotionally damaged (ex-military) hero who's trying to get his life together. I enjoyed both characters separately quite a lot, and by the end I liked them together. They each provided the other with the emotional support to heal old wounds.

There were some light suspense elements in JAK's signature style and some laugh out loud moments (although I'm not sure how many were intentionally and how many were because... well, this books was written in 1985.)

Overall, a lot better than I was expecting given JAK's Harlequins from this time period.
