Clara Ingram Judson was the author of more than seventy books for children, including several biographies of U.S. presidents. In 1960, she was the second-ever winner of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award for literature for children. Abraham Lincoln: Friend of the People was nominated for a Newbery Award in 1951.
