I used to love Tom Clancy before he went over the top pushing his anti-liberal agenda. This book was written back before he got too preachy, or at least before it was noticeable. I enjoyed this book very much. I really like the John Kelly/Clark character, and so it was nice to learn a lot more about him and his background. He reminds me a little of Jack Reacher, the Lee Child character that I also enjoy. Anyway, I won't waste time on what the book is about - that's easy enough to find out. I'll just say that if you like Tom Clancy, you'll like this book. And if you've never read Tom Clancy, you're missing out on some good reading. This book is chronologically first, telling the origin of Clancy's legend, John Clark, and how he came to work for the Agency. Clancy also takes a look at the moral quandry of becoming a vigilante. In the book Clark is out to "deal justice" to his girlfriend's murderers, even though from the outside its obvious what he's really looking for is revenge. Clancy never really addresses the matter of whether this is right or wrong, instead letting the reader decide as Clark ultimately gets his revenge, but is being pursued by law enforcement for multiple counts of homicide. The book itself is well-written, though somewhat long. no reviews | add a review

Tom Clancy wrote an amazing book full both military and police procedures with some espionage thrown in. Mixing the three together in a nicely blended tale of action, relationships and human nature.
Anyone who enjoys a good vigilante justice story…this is a book for you. ( )
