Description

Critical study on the architecture production of Ricardo Severo da Fonseca e Costa (b. Brazil, 1869-1940) , precursor of the neocolonial architectural style in Brazil and Portugal. The author describes Ricardo Severo's architecture as a possible consequence of the turn of the century historical tensions and the ideological and cultural intellectual dilemma of nationality against modernity, expressed in the development of the eclectic, neocolonial and Brazilian modern movements.
