This book is done in a very fun and captivating way. One side of the book teaches numbers, and when you get to the end of the alphabet, you flip the book upside down and over and the numbers are taught. The numbers are taught with coins representing the number, and the letters are taught with objects that start with that letter.
If you know the 26 letters of the alphabet, can count to 99, and understand that there is more than one way to make 25 cents out of coins, you have obviously just finished reading Tana Hoban's brilliant 26 Letters and 99 Cents. Whichever end you start at is only the beginning! This innovative book is two books in one! First, learn the alphabet, then turn the book over and count from 1 to 99 using combinations of coins.
This book was great for children. All the letters from A-Z were accompanied by objects that started with the same letter. A for airplane Z for zipper. If you flip the book you will see the many ways to make change. This book goes all the way up to 99 cents! Most of the numbers have multiple examples for how to make them.
An alphabet book that teaches a little bit about counting money at the same time. Since numbers don't start with a lot of different letters, not many of them were about money, which was a little disconnected. But it would be just as effective for teaching the alphabet.
Great, bold numbers and letters with corresponding pictures. Money seems a little advanced for subject matter, but nice, clear pictures of coins.
A concept book, no words. What makes it stand out is the way it explains with real life full size pictures how to add up pennies, nickels and dimes to get specific amounts. For that it's very good.
This is a great book to teach counting and to teach the letters of the alphabet. If you open this book on the number side you see numbers starting at 1 and going up to 99. There is change representing each number. If you open it up on the other side you see the letters of the alphabet. Each letter has a picture that begins with the same letter. (Airplane for A) This book is great for younger children because they are able to visualize what they are doing.
