Cute, but omigosh I don't think I'd have the energy to make tea for the neighborhood after that adventure. I hope Alfie learned his lesson... but judging by how many other Alfie titles there are, I'm guessing not!
Alfie is racing his mother and baby sister into the house, he accidentally locks them outside. A page-turner for kids and moms. One very nice aspect of the story is the sense of community that Alfie’s mother has with her neighbors: a crowd gathers in concern about helping her solve the problem, and when the door is open she invites everyone in for tea.
Alfie Gets in First tells the story of Alfie, who likes to be first. All day, he comes in first before his mom and his sister. He even gets into the house before they do. Unfortunately, he locks himself inside the house and doesn't know how to let his mom in. With the encouragement of his mom and neighbors, Alfie eventually is able to unlock the door without any help. I thought this book was really well written and it shows how children can solve problems on their own.

have a hard time believing such a wonderful book for two year olds is out of print. Both my children love the story of this little boy whose brazen independance places him in a scary situation. They truely could relate to his delimma and the feelings it caused. They really loved the ending. It reinforced that independance may get you into scary situations but with it you can also get out of them and feel proud of your accomplishment.

in this story, Alfie, runs ahead of his mother, goes into the apartment, slams the door, and manages to lock himself in and everyone else out. This book works very well for personality development because it revolves around he child understanding their emotions and expressing them in socially acceptable ways.In additions to this, the book does offer a plot for students to follow along with, it promotes problem solving, and the illustrations match very well with the text provided and helps to give the reader context. I would recommend this book be read in a group when with preschool age students and kindergarten age students. It could potentially be read individually with First and Second Graders. Over all this book is good for ages 4-6.
Alfie rushes in and gets stuck, everyone comes together to help Alfie get out but at the end he is able to do it on his own. This book is great for helping children with problem solving and also teaches children how to express their emotions in socially acceptable ways.

Alfie, his mom, and baby sister return from grocery shopping. His mom is struggling with the stroller when Alfie runs inside and slams the door. The door locks with alfie inside and his mom and sister outside. Everyone comes to help save Alpfie, but does he want to be saved?
