Deep in the Forest is a wordless picture book about a baby bear who finds a cottage and explores his way through it trying different food, chairs, and beds. While reading the book I realized the story seemed very familiar and that's when I realized it's because it's a spin-off of Goldy Locks and the Three Bears. Since Goldy Locks and the Three Bears is already such a familiar story to most children it made this book easy to follow along. I think this would be a great book to get kids thinking about comparing and contrasting stories to others they already know. I would suggest this book to children in grades k-5.
This book is a great way for children to start using their imagination because there are no words. It is similar in a way to "Goldilocks and the Three Bears".
In my classroom this would be great for promoting a fiction narrative assignment. Students can see the pictures and put words with it.
This book would be best to use for primary grades. This is a wordless book and puts a spin on Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It follows a little bear as he breaks into a family's cabin and eats their food, breaks their furniture, and sleeps in their beds, and when they come home they are not pleased with what they find and chase him out. I definitely don't think I would use this in my classroom as the only thing I could potentially take from it is that actions have consequences and there are many other more recently published books that could convey the same message.
Dreary palette. "Baby" looks like a spoiled brat, whereas one would think she'd be more likely to be excited speechless. Cub and his actions are adorable, though... and in this case the intruder is not naughty, but just doing what comes naturally to a bear.
This book is great for beginner-level readers. It is about a curious bear that goes into a cabin and ends up destroying almost everything. The family that lives there were on a walk, and they came back to find their home destroyed. I would introduce this book into my classroom for my students to observe the illustrations and talk about what they think is happening.
This book contains only illustrations that are used to tell the story thoroughly. The story is about a young bear cub who wonders into an empty house. This cub tears up the entire house and ends up being thrown out by the people who live in the house. This book is great for young readers who want to make up their own story about the book.
This wordless books is great for young students as they need to interpret what is going on in the book through the pictures. The teacher can also use this as a classroom discussion or even have students write their own story to go along with the pictures.
