Jim asks Pa if he will have a friend at school; Pa smiles, "I think you will." But Jim doesn't find a friend right away. It takes most of the day, but after rest time, Paul shows Jim a small toy car, and then other kids invite them to play. While Pa and Jim are walking home, Jim reports happily that he does have a friend. Simply charming, a straightforward story to help children know what to expect at preschool or school, and alleviate worries.

This is a great book for preschoolers about making friends. Jim wonders who will be his friend in his new school (which could also be a daycare); some early encounters with other children are disappointing, but eventually he forms a bond with another boy.
This is the story of Jim and his first day of school. He is concerned about having a friend in his class. His fathers assures him that he will. Through out the day Jim notices other children making friends and playing together, but is too shy and nervous to approach any of them and isn't quite sure what to do. After nap time, Jim is approached by a buy named Paul who wants to show him his toy car. Jim tells him that he has a pump at home and will bring it tomorrow so they can play with them together. On his way home from school Jim is excited to tell his father that he does in fact have a friend at school. This is another good book to share with children on the first day of school to let them know that they can always find at least one show more person who shares the same interests and help calm their fears about finding a friend. show less
This is a great story for children who are starting school and are worried about making a friend. In the story the child has a hard time making friends but in the end he finds someone who has similar interests and they become good friends.

This book is about a child worried about going to school because its new and they don't know if they're going to make any friends. He ends up meeting someone and they become good friends. This can teach children that going to a new school can be scary but they're going to meet really cool people.

in the beginning of the book the main character the boy tried so many times and different ways to make new friends but nothing seemed to work but one day he got the courage to get everyone's attention and made a new friend. that its okay if not everyone wants to be your friend but there are people who will and you just have to find those people and not let the other people make you feel other wise.
