Short murder "mystery", not entirely fair to the reader, but worthwhile for some insightful social dynamics. I like the very occasional passages that have the effect of flash-forwards.

Mystery writer who I enjoyed very much. Read this book a long time ago so I don't remember it but I kept it which is a sign of how much I must have liked it.
Sarah is hired as a governess at Hallam House. A series of pranks is played on the residents of the house because they are pacifists. Then while pulling off a parnk one of the local boys is killed on the lawn of the house.
